Top 10 Meads at Clear Skies Meadery — What People Love and Why

Clear Skies Mead is extremely popular with wine and mead customers because we offer a wide range of mead styles and flavors, and include dry and semi-sweet options. Our meads are available in a low-to-high alcohol by volume (ABV) range, 7% to 18%, to broaden their appeal to consumers who want to drink without getting buzzed.  While we offer a small selection of sweet meads, our specialty is creating exceptional dry and semi-sweet meads. Customers appreciate our seasonal flavor offerings, which typically include two or three releases for spring, summer, fall, and winter.  The top ten most popular meads enjoyed by our customers are listed below:

1. Friending Fenrir : Our flagship, award-winning traditional dry mead is the most fulfilling and versatile alcoholic beverage on the market. It serves as a gateway into the mead world for both experienced palates and novice enthusiasts. Made with raw, organic orange blossom honey, Fenrir is low in sugar yet rich in flavor. Whether you’re looking to create the ultimate mimosa or cocktail, seeking cleaner alcohol alternatives (our mead is gluten-free and low in tannins and sulfites), or wanting to connect with your ancestors by sipping on the world’s oldest libation, Friending Fenrir fits any occasion. Enjoy it carbonated or still, and marvel at how well it pairs with the flavors you explore in the kitchen.

2. Nevermore:  When black currants mix with honey, the resulting mahogany is irresistible. Nevermore, the lower-ABV sister of our Raven’s Cassis, strikes a beautiful balance between sweet and sour, with low ethanol on the palate. Like many of our light-bodied meads, we’ve often heard, “It just tastes like juice.” Red wine lovers will appreciate its enticing aroma and flavor, making it a mead you can enjoy in both the coldest winters and the hottest summers.

3. Mojave Rose:  From the moment it was released, Mojave Rose has received abundant praise. Succulent, juicy, and tropical, it bursts with key lime, prickly pear, and pomegranate, offering a fruity and refreshing kick that leaves you wishing you’d bought more.

4. Tart for the Heart:   Our passionfruit mead, Tart for the Heart, is funky and floral, invoking a desire to drive to the nearest beach. Intricate sour notes are complemented by the fruit’s natural sweetness, delivering a vacation getaway in a glass whenever you need it.

5. Meadarita: How could you possibly improve on the classic margarita? By making it with organic mead, of course! Meadarita features the standard sea salt, lime, and agave flavors of your favorite ‘Marg,’ but elevates it by letting honey take the lead. Rim your margarita glass with some sea salt and enjoy it over ice, or add a shot of your favorite tequila for an extra kick. Sometimes, you just want to relax and let someone else do the heavy lifting for your cocktail.

6. Violets Outburst:  A delightful blend of blueberry and citrus, Violet’s Outburst is one of the most vibrant meads in our repertoire. Each sip reveals an array of flavors and aromas, with lavender being the most prominent. Our fans eagerly await its return every year, as it’s brimming with lemony vigor, promising clear skies ahead.

7. Boys N’ Berry:  Simple and somewhat sweet, Boys N’ Berry is beloved for its fruit-punchy spark and drinkability. Boysenberries provide a modest maroon color and texture, with a hint of tartness on the finish. Harvested in mid-summer, this mead embodies warm-weather vibes, perfect for grilling and enjoying good company. Plus, it’s often considered one of our favorites in our can designs, featuring a beach-party rendition of our staff.

8. Raven’s Cassis: The more mature sibling of our fan favorite, Nevermore, Raven’s Cassis stands out with its complexity. Using a different yeast strain and aging longer, it evokes the finest cabernets and merlots. It glows in your glass and rewards patience, gaining flavor the longer you let it rest. This mead is a perennial favorite among the Clear Skies brew team and at the taproom.

9. Adam’s Fall: Many of our patrons are surprised at how perfectly this mead lives up to its apple pie moniker. Dry, crisp, and carbonated, Adam’s Fall sequentially reveals notes of apple, cinnamon, and a hint of pastry crust reminiscent of a warm apple pie cooling on a windowsill. Ideal for fall, we encourage consumers to enjoy it as is or heated when the weather cools down. It’s also excellent for cooking and marinating

10. Crimson Mage: This cranberry crusher is sweet with a tart finish and renowned for its versatility. It’s easy to sip on, but with a few simple steps, it can be transformed into a lovely cocktail or spritzer. It has become as essential to Thanksgiving dinner as the turkey itself.
